For Monica Kelly, studying dance at TU has been one exciting challenge after another. “When I first got here, I had some background in classical ballet, but through Ballet Hispanico I learned traditional Spanish flamenco, and in Modern Dance we had the opportunity to choreograph and perform our own pieces. That was incredible.” Though Monica’s devotion to her art is clear, and she plans to study musical theatre in college, she also thrives on academic challenges and has expressed an interest in psychology or counseling. “Dance has taught me how important it is to find a way to get your emotions out, and to stay balanced. I’d like to help other people find their own ways to do that.”
